Installing and Using CampaignManager 2009

Firstly, thank you for checking out our software.  We hope you find it useful and easy to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is this going to be?
There are a few unavoidable complexities in setting up a distributed system like CampaignManager.  Setting up the application is a lot more complex than using it (which is very easy).  If this is a brand new installation and only on one machine then everything should be automatically pre-configured and work.  Otherwise, if you have a previous version installed or you intend on running CM Player on another machine then all steps must be followed.  The most complex step is getting the CM Service configuration right.  If we forced you to use a certain web server we could add a "Wizard" into the product to do it for you, but it is our desire to let you make all the choices about how you want to run our software.  So to get back to your question, If you're comfortable with creating virtual directories in a web server, you'll have no problems.  If you're not sure about how to do that you should ask for help from your System Administrator.  If you have followed this guide and you still can't get it to work, just contact us and we'll help you get started.

Can I run the entire system on one machine?
Yes.  However the CM Player application is designed for 'unattended execution' which means there is no way to interact with it when it is running.

What do I need that I might not have on my PC now?
If your copy of Windows is fully updated you may not require anything.  The items that are required are DirectX, Adobe Flash player 9.0 and .net Platform 2.0however these third party components are automatically installed with the Campaign Manager. You will also need a web server.  This doesn't have to be IIS but IIS comes free with Windows XP pro and Vista and other versions of Windows.  You can find help on configuring your web server in this help file.

How long does it take?
If everything is installed on the same computer for the first time the product will work immediately. However, it should not take you more than 15 to 20 minutes, the first time you setup CampaignManager over a network.

What do I do if I get stuck?

Step One: Check out the forum.  Chances are someone will have come across the same problem before and you'll find your answer there.  If that fails, post on the forum or call us.  We'll be delighted to help you get up and running.
